He's back again this year for another cooking demo.

Bio: Kevin Williams has been cooking professionally for over 25 years. His culinary path began at the age of 14 when he declared to his mother he was going to stop eating animals. Chef Kevin attended cooking school at Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI, and he has held the chef position in 5 US states as well as in Canada. At Roots, Chef Kevin has brought his California culinary style to the east, utilizing fresh farm produce, organic grains, tubers, and legumes.

Cooking Demo: Introduction to Vegan Mexican Cooking

During this vegan cooking demo, Chef Kevin Williams from Roots Natural Foods will put his own twist on basic sauce making. On the menu: ceviche and jackfruit tacos using traditional techniques that he recently perfected on a trip through Mexico.

Presentation: Is the Future of Food Vegan?

Miyoko Schinner is founder and CEO of Miyoko’s Kitchen, a leader in innovative, award-winning, organic dairy alternatives that aim to redefine the future of the creamery. A passionate culinarian, Miyoko is the author of five cookbooks and hosted three seasons of Vegan Mashup, a cooking show that aired on PBS nationwide. An avid activist working to change the culture of food, Miyoko is on the board of the Plant Based Foods Association and co-founder of Rancho Compasión, a farmed animal sanctuary in Nicasio, California that provides a home to over 80 farm animals.

Honey LaBronx

Honey LaBronx Activist

Honey LaBronx stars in her own YouTube cooking series, The Vegan Drag Queen, and hosts the Big Fat Vegan Radio podcast. An LGBTQ rights activist, she is committed to bringing discussions about animal rights, intersectionality, and social justice to new audiences. In 2011, she was one of 8 activists arrested for blocking New York City traffic while demonstrating for marriage equality alongside her drag mother, Bob The Drag Queen. She has performed around the world raising funds for local animal sanctuaries, rescues, and activist organizations. Out of drag Honey — Ben Strothmann — is an actor, singer, playwright, and theatrical photographer, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Presentation: Listening Powerfully

Have your conversations left you feeling disempowered? Does it seem like there's a bigger impact to be had? Are you sometimes unsuccessful in getting through to people? Come discover some of the fundamental rules of communication. This workshop will feature one-on-one coaching and partnered sharing exercises in a relaxed and fun setting. Participants will leave having discovered for themselves that it's not so much about HOW to listen — but what specifically to listen FOR in order to have conversations that make things happen.
